Picasso (32-1-1, 17 KOs) will take on Maicol Rincon (16-3-2, 8 KOs) on August 29 at Sala Urbana in Naucalpan, Mexico, Picasso’s hometown. Jab Promotions, which represents Picasso, also announced that they’ll fight for the WBC silver featherweight title, which signaled Picasso’s move from the junior featherweight limit of 122 pounds to 126.

Picasso unsuccessfully challenged undisputed junior featherweight champion Naoya Inoue in his last fight, which headlined “The Ring V: Night of the Samurai” card December 27 at Mohammed Abdo Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Japan’s Inoue (33-0, 27 KOs) made mostly easy work of Picasso in their 12-round fight for Inoue’s Ring, IBF, WBA, WBC and WBO belts. Inoue out-landed Picasso 117 to 62 and notched a unanimous decision via scores of 120-108, 119-109 and 117-111.

Picasso is ranked No. 7 by The Ring at 122 pounds.

By going the WBC route for his next bout at 126 pounds, the 26-year-old contender appears to be eyeing WBC featherweight champion Bruce Carrington (18-0, 10 KOs) for a fight down the line. Rincon is an unknown 29-year-old fighter from Bogota, Colombia who is winless in his last two fights and looking to spoil Picasso’s plans.
