The former Ring, IBF and WBA welterweight champ also appreciates that Zayas will give him a shot at the WBA and WBO 154-pound titles, when the unbeaten Puerto Rican champion could’ve just as easily fought a less imposing opponent.

Ennis still doesn’t think their title fight will be all that competitive Saturday night at Barclays Center in Brooklyn. The Philadelphia native envisions a dominant performance en route to becoming champion in a second division.

“I feel like this fight is gonna unfold however I want it to unfold,” Ennis told The Ring.

“And that’s me putting on a beautiful show, whether that’s me boxing, going forward or mid-range. I'm a get the knockout at the end of the night, just have to be patient, don't look for it.”

Zayas has a perceived size advantage, but he and Ennis each stand 5-foot-10. The San Juan-born, South Florida-based boxer is more accustomed, however, to competing in the junior middleweight division.

Zayas (23-0, 13 KOs) made his pro debut as a welterweight in October 2019, but he has competed at or near the junior middleweight limit for nearly five years. Ennis (35-0, 31 KOs) has boxed less than one round at 154 since he moved up seven pounds a year ago.

The Ring’s fifth-rated junior middleweight often spars with bigger fighters, though, and doesn’t see any advantages for the third-ranked Zayas in a main event DAZN will offer to subscribers of its Ultimate plan ($49.99 monthly in the United States; £24.99 in the United Kingdom) and on pay-per-view to non-subscribers ($74.99 in the U.S.; £24.99 in the UK).

“Like I said, I feel like I'm a do whatever I want,” Ennis said. “Everybody gonna see on fight night. I'm a have my fun and stop him. I feel I'm a get him out of there for sure.”

The technically sound Zayas hasn’t been knocked down as a pro. DraftKings nonetheless installed multidimensional Ennis as a 5-1 favorite in their bout.

Ennis, who will turn 29 on Friday, detects defensive flaws in the defending champion he is completely confident he’ll exploit in what he believes is a steep step up in class for Zayas.
