Earlier in the week, the 36-year-old had this to say after Thursday's open workouts: "I'm feeling great. Sydney has been great to me. I'm happy to be here and ready to put on a great show. I'm gonna get the best Tim Tszyu. He's been training hard, he's extremely focused and knows his back is against the wall, so he's gotta come with it all.

"He says he's gonna press and put his will on me. That's his style. I'm gonna be one of the best versions of me. I'm focused, been training hard and I'm ready to go.

"Everybody comes in there to hurt the other guy. My plan is always to impose my will, beat them up and hopefully stop them. If the opportunity is there, I'm definitely gonna take it."

Two rounds down, this bruising opener is living up to the billing between unbeaten light heavyweights.

They exchange smiles after unloading with hooks at close-range just before the bell to end another busy frame, where both had successful moments and absorbed damage too. Don't want to jinx... but I'd be surprised if this goes the distance.

Anyway, where was I with this main event build-up? Ah yes, the home favorite arrived in the last hour and is currently relaxing with family in his dressing room:

"Years ago I remember watching Spence while I was fighting at small venues. Here we are years later and I get to do what I've always wanted: fight a legend who's come to Australia. I've got super confidence that I'm gonna beat him.

"Errol is Errol, he does things his own way. I respect what he's done and achieved, but there comes times in people's journey where they've had enough.

Paulo Aokuso-Luis Tejeda will kick off the main card with 10 rounds at light heavyweight in a few minutes' time.

On what was originally billed Australia vs. U.S, we're severely lacking main card entertainment through no fault of the promotion. Former two-weight world champion Jermall Charlo was denied a visa before his slated Koen Mazoudier bout while Stephen Fulton badly missed weight before a WBA 130-pound eliminator vs. Liam Wilson.
