A lot of the time, after fighters share 12 hard rounds with each other, the animosity fades, but that certainly isn't the case here.

Ford lost to Foster by majority decision on Saturday night at Fertitta Center in Houston, Texas. The fight was close after eight rounds before WBC junior lightweight champion Foster pulled away.

“Good fight,” Ford wrote Sunday on social media. “I still don’t like him though. Chin up, chest out. I don’t have any excuses. This ain’t over until I say. See y’all soon. I’ll be back.”

Foster hopes the win will lead to big fights. Immediately after, the 32-year-old went going back-and-forth with Ring and WBO 140-pound champion, Shakur Stevenson. The Orange, Texas, native has said repeatedly that he would move up in weight for that bout. If that fight can’t be made, Foster (25-3, 12 KOs) is interested in facing former 130-pound champion Lamont Roach, or IBF and WBO junior lightweight titlist, Emanuel Navarrete.

As for Ford, he has some rebuilding to do. The 27-year-old had plenty of moments of success, but faded down the stretch. Still, his shortcomings against Foster won’t put a dent in his confidence. It also won’t keep him on the shelf for too long.

As for what went wrong, he’ll continue to re-assess. While he reflects, the Camden, New Jersey, native refuses to take away from Foster’s moment. Instead, Ford (18-2-1, 8 KOs) will accept the second loss of his career and use it to get better.
