Frazer Clarke stated that while reports of him agreeing a deal to fight Joseph Parker are premature, he has spoken directly to Parker about possibly boxing on the undercard of the long-awaited heavyweight clash between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua.
Fury and Joshua will meet in the main event of a Ring show December 11. Netflix will broadcast the action from Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales.
England’s Clarke (10-3-1, 8 KOs) would leap at the chance to take on the former WBO heavyweight champion.
“It’s actually not technically true and, if it is, it’s not come past me yet,” Clarke told talkSPORT.
“But I’ve had a discussion about the fight. It got put to me, ‘Would I fight Joseph Parker?’ I said, ‘Yes,’ and since then, I can give you an exclusive, I’ve spoken to Joseph Parker today. He messaged me saying it’s the first he’s heard of it, so there’s probably some crossed wires somewhere.
“But if they're looking for a co-main or looking for a big fight to go on the undercard, then I’m putting my name in the hat right now. I think that’d be a great fight.”
The fight would make perfect sense for Clarke, who is 35 and has been looking for a meaningful fight since Justis Huni eked out a majority decision against him April 11.
Parker, however, may already have a bigger offer on the table.
The Ring reported Wednesday that Queensberry Promotions is exploring the possibility of matching Parker with Daniel Dubois, The Ring’s No. 1 contender and WBO champion.
Parker (36-4, 24 KOs) hasn’t boxed since October 2025, when Fabio Wardley stopped him in the 11th round of a fight for the WBO interim heavyweight title.
In the aftermath of that fight, Parker returned an adverse analytical finding for traces of a metabolite of cocaine. The 34-year-old Auckland native always protested his innocence and he was cleared in August to return to action after UKAD ruled that the ingestion was unintentional and occurred out of competition.
If Clarke does land the fight, he would be confident of scoring a career-best victory.
“I think he’s there for the taking as such,” Clarke said. “He’s not been in the ring for so long and it'd be a great time to fight him. Saying that, I’ve got a lot of respect for Joe. We’re actually friends. When he messaged earlier and said he’s not heard about it. I asked him if he wanted to get on that card and listen, Joe’s a fighting man and I’m sure he’ll fight any time, any place if the numbers are right, and it’s the same for myself.”
