The Ring’s Mike Coppinger reported on Thursday that Tyson Fury vs. Anthony Joshua will be for the WBA 'super' heavyweight title. Fury and Joshua will finally face each other on December 11 at Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales, live on Netflix.

Murat Gassiev, The Ring’s No. 9-ranked heavyweight, currently holds the 'regular' WBA heavyweight title.

With a win, Joshua (30-4, 27 KOs) and Fury (36-2-1, 25 KOs) could become three-time heavyweight champions. "AJ," 36, won his first world title in April 2016 when he stopped Charles Martin in the second round. Andy Ruiz upset him, stopping him in the seventh round in June 2019, but Joshua promptly avenged the defeat by unanimous decision six months later to become a two-time unified heavyweight champion.

Joshua lost his titles for a second time in September 2021 when Oleksandr Usyk, The Ring heavyweight champion, defeated him by unanimous decision. He lost a rematch to Usyk by split decision nearly 11 months later.

Fury, 38, won his first world title when he upset Wladimir Klitschko by unanimous decision to become the unified heavyweight champion in November 2015. After vacating his titles due to issues away from the ring, he won the WBC title in February 2020 with a seventh-round stoppage of Deontay Wilder.

Fury fought for the undisputed heavyweight title in May 2024 but lost a split decision to Usyk. His bid to become unified champion also fell short when he lost the rematch to Usyk by unanimous decision seven months later.

Joshua notched seven title defenses across his two reigns, while Fury has three.
