A pair of former world champions will dust off the gloves and meet in an exhibition next month.
Banner Promotions and Indistry Media announced Friday that Danny Garcia, a former two-division world champion, and Ruslan Provodnikov, a one-time junior welterweight belt-holder, will square off in an eight-round exhibition November 7 at Watsco Center in Coral Gables, Florida.
It’s been 10 years since boxing fans have seen Provodnikov (22-5, 18 KOs) in the ring. The Beryozovo, Russia, native formally announced his retirement in 2021, but his last bout took place in June 2016, when he lost a unanimous decision to John Molina.
Provodnikov intended to face Manny Pacquiao in an exhibition April 18 in Las Vegas, but the bout never materialized.
Garcia, on the other hand, has been far more active. The former Ring champion at 140 pounds announced his retirement after stopping Daniel Gonzalez in the fourth round of their October 2025 bout at Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
However, even with Garcia (38-4, 22 KOs) walking off into the sunset, the Philadelphia native has openly flirted with the idea of coming back.
The former junior welterweight and welterweight champ recently revealed to The Ring that he was offered a fight against IBF junior middleweight champ Josh Kelly. Garcia turned down the opportunity due to what he called a “lowball” offer.
Onetime junior welterweight contender Jose Zepeda will also face former former WBA 130-pound champ Alberto Machado in a 10-rounder on the Garcia-Provodnikov undercard.
