Gervonta Davis reportedly is wanted by police after he allegedly violated the terms of his probation.
A warrant for Davis’ arrest, issued on April 24 by Baltimore Circuit Judge Althea M. Handy, stems from accusations that he attacked his ex-girlfriend at a strip club in Miami Gardens, Florida, in October of last year.
Davis' alleged actions, the judge ruled, violated his probation for a 2020 hit-and-run conviction.
Handy initially issued a warrant on February 2 but recalled it eight days later after Davis’ attorney convinced her that the boxer would cooperate. She then issued the second warrant, which Davis’ lawyers again challenged. However, their motion was denied on May 22.
Davis was arrested on January 28 in Miami by the Miami Gardens Police Department and the U.S. Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force after an arrest warrant for the alleged domestic violence was issued on January 14.
On October 30, Davis' ex-girlfriend Courtney Rossel filed a civil lawsuit in Miami-Dade County, accusing Davis of aggravated battery, false imprisonment, kidnapping, and intentional infliction of emotional distress. Rossel said the incident occured on October 27 at Tootsie’s Cabaret, a Miami club where she was employed as a VIP cocktail server.
Rossel alleged that Davis grabbed her by her head and throat, took her against her will out of the nightclub, and dragged her out of the back exit and into a nearby parking garage, where he assaulted her.
After the arrest, Davis posted an $8,500 bond and was ordered not to have any contact with Rossel.
As for the 2020 hit-and-run incident – one of several run-ins with the law that Davis has had in recent years – he received 90 days of house arrest, three years of probation and 200 hours of community service after pleading guilty in 2023. Davis later spent nearly six weeks in jail in 2023 for violating the terms of his home detention.
Handy extended Davis’ probation last March by 18 months after unauthorized travel, another probation violation.
Davis (30-0-1, 28 KOs), the WBA lightweight champion, last fought to a majority draw with Lamont Roach in March last year. The 31-year-old was supposed to take on Jake Paul in November but was pulled from the contest once Rossel's allegations surfaced.
