The Shakur Stevenson era has officially arrived.
Stevenson (25-0, 11 KOs) scored a landslide unanimous decision and career-best win against Teofimo Lopez Jr. (22-2, 13 KOs) on Saturday, becoming The Ring and WBO junior welterweight champion and a four-division titleholder.
Stevenson, who still holds the WBC lightweight title, stepped up in weight to dethrone the 140-pound division’s king with ease. Where he goes from here will be motivated by fights that add to his accolades and bank account.
Matchroom Boxing head Eddie Hearn, who previously signed Stevenson to a promotional deal in 2024 and now works with him on an ad-hoc basis, can deliver Stevenson a bevy of options.
“I don't think they are going to be queuing up to fight him,” Hearn told The Ring. “But they want to test themselves against greatness.”
Hearn works with newly crowned WBC champion Dalton Smith and IBF beltholder Richardson Hitchins and can present Stevenson with a pair of title unification options at 140 pounds.
Following Stevenson’s win, Hearn-promoted welterweight contender Conor Benn threw his name in the mix by stepping into the ring and calling for a clash against Stevenson. Stevenson entertained the idea, but only with a rehydration clause.
After easily handling Lopez 11 rounds to one across the scorecards, the field of competition is Stevenson’s oyster.
“It was just a phenomenal performance,” said Hearn. “Teo is an elite fighter, and he made him look very, very average in there. Shakur won every round. The footwork, the punch selection, absolutely everything. He's a four-division champion, 28 years of age. He has to go down as a modern-day great.
“I didn't think it would be as wide as that. I really fancied that Shakur would win the fight. I was very convinced. Teo is a great fighter, and the way Shakur did it with ease. He could have done 40 rounds. That's what you get with dedication and the work ethic that Shakur has. He's a very, very special fighter.”
