The 21-year-old southpaw is currently preparing to face Filip Hrgovic in the toughest test of his career to date at London’s 02 Arena on August 29.

WBO heavyweight champion Dubois meanwhile, looks set to face Fabio Wardley in a rematch of their brutal May 9 epic at some point later this year.

But Itauma (14-0, 12 KOs) is already expecting to one day cross paths with his 28-year-old compatriot and expects the pair to both hold world titles when they do.

“I think me and Dubois will definitely happen at some point, this year, next year or the year after,” Itauma said during an interview with IFL TV.

“Only because it’s two Brits and he doesn’t seem like he’s slowing down and I feel like I’m speeding up. I feel like it’s definitely going to happen but if it is, it will be after I’ve got a belt and he’s got a belt, or we’ve got two each.”

Both men are currently promoted by Queensberry Promotions and have been for the entirety of their careers.

Itauma, The Ring’s No. 6 heavyweight, thinks Frank Warren’s plan is to keep them apart until it becomes a world title unification.

Itauma said: “I don’t know if Frank’s going to be happy about this but I think he’s going to try and get me and Dubois to collect all the belts and then unify with each other. That’s the plan and I’m happy to roll with it.”

Following Oleksandr Usyk’s decision to relinquish his sanctioning body titles, the IBF ordered their No. 1 contender Frank Sanchez to face No. 3-rated Itauma for the vacant belt.

However, given his clash with Hrgovic was already arranged, Itauma will have to wait for his shot at a world title belt and instead face the Croatian in a non-title clash. He said: “The Frank Sanchez fight is on the table, the [WBA champion] Murat Gassiev fight is on the table, the Dubois fight is on the table. It’s just a matter of timing.

“I’ve got Hrgovic and I’m pretty sure Frank Sanchez has got an opponent lined up. We’ve all got fights but in due time we will fight each other. I’ve got Hrgovic and then after him you never know.”
