Jake Paul's promotional company says it's investigating domestic violence allegations against Gervonta Davis and hasn't determined whether to go through with their Nov. 14 exhibition.
Jake Paul’s promotional company hasn’t determined whether he will move forward with his November 14 fight against Gervonta Davis because of the most recent domestic violence allegations made against Davis.
Most Valuable Promotions, co-founded by Paul and Nakisa Bidarian, are reportedly exploring options to replace Davis based on the civil lawsuit an ex-girlfriend filed against him this week. Netflix is scheduled to stream their highly publicized cruiserweight exhibition from Kaseya Center in Miami.
“Most Valuable Promotions immediately initiated an investigation upon learning of the civil lawsuit filed against Gervonta Davis in Miami-Dade County on October 30th, 2025,” MVP announced in a statement released Saturday afternoon. “At this time, we are gathering information and reviewing the details to ensure any decision we make is thoroughly vetted. We unequivocally condemn any form of violence and are committed to handling this matter with diligence and respect for all involved. We will make a determination on next steps once we have completed our review and consulted with the appropriate parties. Until then, we will not be commenting further.”
Sports Illustrated’s Chris Mannix reported Paul’s handlers approached the team of Davis’ rival, Ryan Garcia, about replacing him on short notice. Oscar De La Hoya, Garcia’s promoter, stated on social media Saturday that Garcia can’t replace Davis because he is contractually committed to fighting on DAZN or DAZN Pay-Per-View.
As for Davis, Courtney Rossel, Davis’ ex-girlfriend, accused him of aggravated battery, false imprisonment, kidnapping and intentional infliction of emotional distress in a lawsuit filed Thursday. One of Rossel’s attorneys, Jeffery Chukwuma, told ESPN.com on Thursday that a police report was also filed on her behalf Tuesday with the Miami Gardens Police Department.
In the complaint, Rossel alleged Davis took her against her will Tuesday night out of Tootsie’s Cabaret, a Miami gentlemen’s club where she was employed as a VIP cocktail server. She claimed Davis dragged her out of the back exit and into a nearby parking garage, where he assaulted her.
Rossel also alleged Davis, 30, abused her on several prior occasions during their five-month relationship.
Her lawsuit was filed only two months after domestic violence charges involving the mother of two of Davis’ three children were dropped.
Davis was imprisoned in his hometown of Baltimore in June 2023 for violating terms of his home detention sentence stemming from a hit-and-run accident he caused in November 2020. The WBA lightweight champion was released after spending 44 days in jail.
The left-handed Davis (30-0-1, 28 KOs) has fought only twice since his release in July 2023. He barely escaped defeat in his last fight, a controversial majority draw with Lamont Roach on March 1 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
Davis and Roach were supposed to partake in an immediate rematch. Davis instead decided to oppose the much bigger, less experienced Paul (12-1, 7 KOs), a polarizing influencer with whom Davis’ team negotiated before he faced Roach.
