The former 154- and 160-pound world champion knows his career is winding down and has his sights set on capping it by becoming a three-division titlist. Any hopes of achieving that feat will first depend on him getting past Koen Mazoudier.

The 10-round, super middleweight contest between will take place on the undercard of Sebastian Fundora’s WBC junior middleweight title defense against Ermal Hadribeaj at The Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas on October 17 on DAZN and TNT.

“This is the last run,” Charlo said during a PBC virtual press conference Thursday. “I'm putting all my effort into it. I'm just giving it my all. If God wants me to keep going, I keep going, but at this point, I don't have [anything] to prove. I've completed every task, and I'm just ready to go on the other side of boxing.”

Charlo (34-0, 23 KOs) was originally scheduled to face Mazoudier (16-4-1, 6 KOs) on the undercard of Tim Tszyu’s unanimous-decision victory over Errol Spence on July 25 in Australia. Visa issues for the Houston native led to the fight being postponed and rescheduled.

If Charlo can get past the Australian as expected, he’s targeting one more fight in before the end of the year. Charlo, 36, last fought in May 2025 when he scored a sixth-round stoppage of Thomas LaManna.

Charlo has only fought twice since 2021.

“I want to do something to challenge myself,” Charlo said. “I don't know how it'll work. I would get with my team, and we'll figure something out. I want to fight again. I would have already been getting ready for another fight if I fought in July. Since that didn't happen, we're not gonna dwell on that. We're just gonna keep moving forward.”

Charlo was in discussions to face former WBA super middleweight champion Armando Resendiz on May 2, but the timing didn’t work out. Jaime Munguia replaced Charlo and beat Resendiz by unanimous decision for the belt.

Whether it’s Munguia or any of the other top names at 168 pounds, Charlo wants to spend the final chapter of his career pursuing and winning a world title at super middleweight.

“The current fighters that's in the division, they're aware of who I am,” Charlo said. “They know what I do. They know what I possess. It's just a matter of getting those guys in the ring to make history, and I'm here for it. … We're not gonna just keep waiting [for] the guys who [are] at the top. I just want the top fighters, and wherever the top fighters [are], I'm here. I'm right in the mix with them. I'm new to 168. I'm here to take over 168."
