In October, Lorente (20-0-3, 8 KOs) and Collins (17-0-1, 8 KOs) battled to a hard fought split draw. The result satisfied nobody and a rematch was an inevitability.

The two will renew hostilities at Glasgow’s OVO Hydro Arena on April 17. The winner will leave as the EBU 126-pound champion and the mandatory challenger for Bruce Carrington’s WBC title.

“In the first fight, I had a lot of respect for them, but now he has the respect for me,” the undefeated European featherweight champion said at Wednesday’s launch press conference.

Lorente was a major underdog before the first meeting but the Spaniard will return to Scotland in a much stronger position.

The 29-year-old got off to a slow start but built up a head of steam and ended the first fight strongly. Having already shared 12 rounds with Collins and experienced a fight week in Glasgow, he is confident of going one better around and securing a shot at Carrington’s WBC title.

“The first match was incredible and the people of Glasgow need a second part. I'm more angry this time and I'm going to be for the victory,” he said.

“This is the 13th round for me because it's the round I didn't have in the other fight.

“I'm better than him because I have a bigger heart than him.”

Earlier this week, Collins told The Ring that he is disappointed at the way he allowed himself to be drawn into a toe-to-toe battle first time around. He is determined to box a smarter, sharper fight in April.

Lorente isn’t planning on changing tack ahead of the rematch. Having dragged Collins into his type of fight before, he is sure he can do it again.

“Basically, it's the continuation of the other fight. We have 12 rounds in front to continue my work,” he said.

“Now, I know him and they know me and it's an amazing fight for all the fans. I’ll show the skills to be in the first [world] level soon.”
