Shane Mosley Jr. entered Sunday seeking the most impressive win of his career.
Mission accomplished.
Mosley withstood relentless pressure from Serhii Bohachuk and stopped him in the sixth round in the main event of Zuffa Boxing 06 on Sunday at Meta Apex Center in Las Vegas. The win was Mosley’s sixth in his last seven fights.
With a minute left in the sixth, Mosley (23-5, 13 KOs) finally broke through, dropping Bohachuk (27-4, 24 KOs) with a straight right hand. Bohachuk rose to his feet, but was on wobbly legs.
Mosley stayed on the offensive, and after an onslaught of punches with Bohachuk along the ropes, referee Thomas Taylor stopped the fight.
It was a typical Bohachuk fight for as long as it lasted. It was fought in tight quarters with both fighters giving as good as they got.
Mosley got off to a good start in the first round as he was able to land the cleaner shots from range. Bohachuk eventually worked his way onto the inside and was landing the harder punches, although Mosley still did solid work.
The finish was foreshadowed just before the bell to end the fourth round, when Mosley connected with a straight right hand that left Bohachuk stumbling back to the corner. The action then reached its peak in the fifth round, as both fighters landed some of their best punches of the fight as it continued to be a phone booth brawl.
The sixth round followed suit before Mosley turned the fight on its head.
After the win, Mosley called for a fight against Callum Walsh.
