Boxing has returned to ESPN.
MVP announced Friday a multi-year deal with the sports broadcaster until 2028, confirming the first three shows.
It was also announced that Alycia Baumgardner (17-1, 7 KOs), The Ring, IBF, WBA, WBO 130-pound champion, will make her return on April 17 against Bo Mi Re Shin (19-3-3, 10 KOs) at Madison Square Garden's Infosys Theater. The fight will be 10 three-minute rounds.
Kicking off the deal with ESPN is the April 5 card headlined by WBC lightweight champion Caroline Dubois (12-0-1, 5 KOs) and Terri Harper (16-2-2, 6 KOs) in London, England. Also on that card is The Ring, IBF, WBC, WBO champion, Ellie Scotney, against WBA champ Mayelli Flores in an undisputed bout.
Baumgardner-Shin will be the second show of the deal. The third is a rematch between Holly Holm and Stephanie Han for the latter's WBA lightweight title on May 30. Han won the first bout by seventh-round technical unanimous decision after suffering a cut from an accidental headbutt.
ESPN hasn't broadcast a boxing card since July 26 when Xander Zayas defeated Jorge Garcia by unanimous decision to win the WBO 154-pound title at Madison Square Garden's Theater. That show was the last of a seven-year deal between Top Rank and ESPN.
MVP CEO Nakisa Bidarian said the deal would support the launch of MVP W, the first dedicated women's boxing league.
“When given the opportunity to fight three minutes, I said, ‘Absolutely,’” Baumgardner said. “This is a challenge that I love to accept. Moving forward, when we talk about equality, we talk about the standard on what we're setting; three minutes is no issue. I look forward to it.
“When you see a style like myself, very poised, who knows how to box, who knows how to punch, who uses a jab to set things up, you appreciate that extra minute. Come April 17, you'll see again why three minutes is the standard and why champions like myself can separate those from others.”
For Baumgardner, it marks another significant card she’ll fight on since signing with MVP last year, but her first as a headliner. Baumgardner, 31, was the co-main event to Katie Taylor’s majority decision win over Serrano in their third bout on Netflix on July 11 when she defeated Spain’s Jennifer Miranda by unanimous decision.
In her last bout, the Fremont, Ohio, native won a unanimous decision against Leila Beaudoin in a 12-round fight with three-minute rounds in the co-feature to Anthony Joshua’s sixth-round knockout of Jake Paul on December 19 on Netflix.
Shin notably lost a majority decision to Dubois in March 2025.
In the co-feature of Baumgardner-Shin, unified IBF and WBO super middleweight champion Shadasia Green defends her titles against Lani Daniels. Green (16-1, 11 KOs) became the unified champion in her last fight on July 11 with a split decision win over Savannah Marshall.
“My goal is to put on a great performance [against Daniels] and show you guys some wrinkles that you haven't seen, but I think that's a mega fight,” Green said. “With MVP W and Nakisa at the head, they can make it happen. I think that's a great fight between me and Claressa Shields.”
Ahead of her rematch with former UFC star Holm, Han said she wants "no excuses" this time.
“She said she could have caught up at the end, and I want to have this next fight [with] no excuses,” Han said. “Most importantly, I'm having this rematch in my city of El Paso. My city embraces me as a champion, and I'm so excited to bring this fight home.”
