Naoya Inoue versus Junto Nakatani has long been viewed as one of — if not the — best fights that can be made in boxing.
The wait for the most significant fight between two Japanese boxers is over.
Inoue-Nakatani for the undisputed 122-pound title was officially announced for May 2 at Tokyo Dome in Tokyo on Thursday night ET. Inoue (32-0, 27 KOs) enters the clash with all of the titles, while Nakatani (32-0, 24 KOs) is fighting for the second time in the weight class.
They last fought on the same card on Dec. 27 in Saudi Arabia to set the stage for their megabout. Inoue coasted to a unanimous decision win over Alan Picasso, while Nakatani won a razor-thin unanimous decision against Sebastian Hernandez.
Inoue is a four-division champion and The Ring’s No. 2 fighter pound-for-pound. Nakatani is a three-division champion and The Ring’s No. 7 pound-for-pound.
Who wins Naoya Inoue vs. Junto Nakatani?

The biggest fight between Japanese fighters on Japanese soil is scheduled for May 2
