Rolando "Rolly" Romero and Teofimo Lopez will put their friendship aside on August 22.
Romero (17-2, 13 KOs) will make the first defense of his WBA welterweight title against Lopez in the 12-round main event of a Premier Boxing Champions card at Las Vegas' T-Mobile Arena.
Romero, 30, is fighting for the first time since an upset decision win over Ryan Garcia for the interim WBA welterweight title in May 2025.
The Las Vegas native was elevated to full champion later that year after Jaron Ennis vacated the belt, moving up to junior middleweight.
Lopez (22-2, 13 KOs) seeks to become a three-division champion on what is the 29-year-old's 147-pound debut.
The Brooklyn, New York native lost The Ring and WBO 140-pound titles in a one-sided points defeat by Shakur Stevenson on January 31 in New York.
Neither can afford a third career defeat given the lucrative possibilities awaiting this weekend's winner, but who do you think wins? Vote below and sound off in the comments with why!
Watch Rolando "Rolly" Romero defend his WBA welterweight title against Teofimo Lopez live and exclusively on DAZN Pay-Per-View on August 22 from T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
