The future of the super middleweight division hangs in the balance.
Christian Mbilli will defend his WBC super middleweight title against Canelo Alvarez at Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on Saturday. The bout, which headlines The Ring’s Mexico versus The World card, will stream on DAZN PPV and as part of the DAZN Ultimate plan.
Alvarez (63-3-2, 39 KOs) is looking to become a two-time super middleweight champion. The four-division titleholder from Guadalajara is coming off a unanimous decision defeat to Terence Crawford in September 2025.
Alvarez, 36, is The Ring’s No. 1 super middleweight.
Mbilli (29-0-1, 24 KOs) last fought to a split draw against Lester Martinez on the undercard of Crawford-Alvarez. The 31-year-old Cameroonian titleholder was elevated from interim WBC super middleweight champion to full champion after Crawford retired.
Mbilli is The Ring’s No. 3 at 168 pounds for its vacant title.
Will Alvarez reclaim his crown atop the super middleweight division? Or will Mbilli cement himself as the future?
