The 27-year-old last fought on May 23 in a step-up against Frank Sanchez but was flatlined in the second round of their clash in Egypt.

Torrez hasn't said much since, but he's working hard to make a comeback by the end of the year.

The manner in which he lost to Sanchez (26-1, 19 KOs) was devastating, but he’s using all of the doubt heaped upon him as motivation.

“I’m not done,” Torrez said on a self-recorded video. “We’re gonna go back to the drawing board. I’m working even harder. I’m trying to get back in there by the end of the year.”

Torrez wants to move past the worst night of his career. Had he won that IBF final eliminator, he would be next in line for a title shot. Sanchez is enjoying that position as he waits on the winner of Moses Itauma vs. Filip Hrgovic for the vacant heavyweight crown.

Torrez (14-1, 12 KOs) believes he’ll get his shot on the big stage again. But for now, he’s taking this defeat on the chin.

“A lot of things went wrong,” he said. “But I don’t wanna talk too much because if I start talking about what went wrong, people are gonna say I’m trying to make excuses. I just lost. I understand what I did wrong and I can fix it.

“Shoutout to [Sanchez's trainer] Eddy Reynoso. That dude read me like a book in that second round. I got caught with a shot.”
