The seven-division champion rallied to defeat a determined Lucrecia Manzur by a majority decision to retain her Ring, WBA and WBO featherweight titles Friday at Pechanga Resort Casino in Temecula, California, on TikTok.

One judge had it even, 114-114, but the other two had Serrano winning by the same score of 116-112.

"I knew she would be tough," Serrano said in the ring afterward. "She’s young. She’s 27, 10 years younger than me. The girls are getting younger and stronger. Thank God I’m almost out of the game. Let them have fun. It sure was an honor be in there with a tough, young fighter.

"She was hungry. I knew that coming into training. I trained very hard because I knew it was an opportunity for her. I was told every time you're given an opportunity, you have to seize it. I know all the girls who fight me are doing the same thing. I had to come with 'A' game."

The table was set for Serrano (50-4-1, 32 KOs) to make history by breaking Christy Martin’s women’s boxing record of 32 knockouts against a relatively unknown opponent. However, Manzur (14-5, 7 KOs), ranked No. 2 by the WBO, had no intention of playing along.

The Argentine attacked one of her boxing idols with no fear or hesitation from the opening bell and never let up.

Serrano had serious problems in the first half of the fight, as Manzur, an orthodox fighter, was able to land her jab and hard, eye-catching power shots without taking as much in return from her southpaw opponent round after round.

By mid-fight, the 30-1 underdog was clearly positioned to record what would’ve been one of the most significant upsets in recent memory.

Instead, Serrano, as gritty as she has ever been, turned up the heat in the second half of the fight by boxing more effectively and outworking her less experienced opponent to turn potential defeat into the 50th victory of her remarkable career.

It wasn’t her greatest performance but it was one of her more courageous efforts given the challenge she faced against a skillful, rugged opponent, who many undoubtedly believe didn’t deserve the 116-112 (eight rounds to four) scorecards.

And, evidently, Serrano will have one more chance to get the knockout record. She said afterward that she “has one more fight,” presumably a farewell bout in Puerto Rico.

"I still got that 33rd knockout. I got one more fight. If don't get it, I'll be glad to be tied with Christy Martin. She’s probably happy I didn’t’ make it," Serrano said with a smile. "But I got my 50th win. That's a milestone on it’s own. It’s a lot of fights."

Whatever happens, she made it clear against Manzur that she's going to give everything she has until the end.

In the co-main event, 2024 Olympian and hot prospect Jahmal Harvey (4-0, 3 KOs) of Oxon Hill, Maryland, knocked out Hammet Keb (7-3-1, 6 KOs) in the second round of a scheduled six-round lightweight bout.

Harvey landed a big right hand as the second round was winding down and then followed with a left and even bigger right to put his Mexican opponent down and instantaneously end the one-sided fight.

The official time of the stoppage was 2:48.

In another championship fight, Melissa Mortensen (10-0, 5 KOs) of Denmark overcame a second-round knockdown to defeat Mexican Mayelli Flores (13-3-1, 4 KOs) by a split decision for the vacant WBA junior featherweight title in a 10-round bout.

All three judges had the same score, 95-94. Two had Mortensen winning, one gave the fight to Flores.

And, in a scheduled 10-round welterweight bout, knockout artist Avious Griffin (20-1, 19 KOs) of Chattanooga, Tennessee, put Dominican veteran Jackson Marinez (23-5, 11 KOs) down twice and stopped him after the fifth round.
