Shakur Stevenson has always looked up to Terence Crawford.
He loved his fighting style, admired his work ethic, and appreciated his willingness to fight into his late 30s.
With that said, however, the 28-year-old won’t take a page out of Crawford’s book when it comes to longevity.
“That’s his journey and that’s his story,” Stevenson told The Daily Mail. “With my journey and my story I feel like, I don’t even wanna be boxing as long as he did. With all due respect to him, he boxed until 38 years old, I want to be done by maybe 33.”
Crawford’s last fight came in September 2025 against Canelo Alvarez. After securing his third reign as an undisputed champion, the future Hall of Famer seemed like he would continue his career. But ultimately, he decided to leave the sport on a high.
Stevenson (25-0, 11 KOs) has all of that in the back of his mind. The 2016 Olympic silver medalist recently became a four-division champion thanks to his win over Teofimo Lopez in January to win both The Ring and WBO junior welterweight titles.
The Ring's No. 3 pound-for-pound fighter doesn’t have a date lined up for his next fight just yet, but he's been linked with a fight against WBO welterweight champion Devin Haney.
Competing in big fights is a priority for Stevenson, but getting out of the sport healthy remains his No. 1 goal.
“I’m not trying to have brain problems,” Stevenson said. “I’m in this sport to make my money and become one of the best and show people how great I am.“
