Seven weeks after they were originally scheduled to face each other, Christian Mbilli and Canelo Alvarez will finally fight Saturday night.
Mbilli will defend his WBC super middleweight title against Alvarez, a former two-time undisputed 168-pound champion. Their bout headlines The Ring’s “Mexico Versus The World” card.
Alvarez (63-3-2, 39 KOs) and Mbilli (29-0-1, 24 KOs) were supposed to fight September 12. A personal matter for Alvarez, 36, led to a postponement that extended their layoffs to 13½ months.
Alvarez, who won world titles in four weight classes, lost a unanimous decision to Terence Crawford in his last fight in September 2025. On the undercard, Mbilli retained his WBC interim super middleweight title in a split draw against Lester Martinez.
Mbilli, a native of Yaounde, Cameroon, who trains out of Montreal, was elevated to full WBC super middleweight champion after Crawford retired in December.
Alvarez, of Guadalajara, is The Ring’s No. 1-ranked contender for its vacant title.

THEY SAID IT
Alvarez: “I always break records. I’ve accomplished everything in boxing. Facing these kinds of fighters, good fighters, champions, adds more legacy to my career. That’s all I want — to face the best out there, the champions, and being a world champion again.”
Mbilli: “I am the world champion right now, but I have to prove that I am No. 1. The thing is that many people know that the No. 1 right now is Canelo. I have to beat Canelo to prove I am the No. 1 of the division.”
WHAT ARE THE ODDS
Alvarez is a clear favorite at -330 odds, according to DraftKings. Mbilli is a +250 underdog.
Alvarez winning by decision is -135, while a KO/TKO/DQ victory for him is -135. A decision win for Mbilli is +450, and beating Alvarez by KO/TKO/DQ boasts +750 odds.
Total rounds is set at 10.5, with the over being -475 and the under being +300.
MUST-SEE ON THE UNDERCARD
Rafael Espinoza (28-0, 24 KOs) will defend his WBO featherweight title against late replacement Ricardo Blanton (21-6, 14 KOs). Jaime Munguia (46-2, 35 KOs) will also make his first defense of the WBA super middleweight title against Nikita Zon (12-0-1, 10 KOs).
Espinoza, 32, is The Ring’s No. 1-ranked contender for a vacant 126-pound championship. Munguia, 30, is rated No. 5 in The Ring’s super middleweight top 10.
An intriguing 10-round featherweight bout between David Picasso (33-1-1, 17 KOs) and Carl Jammes Martin (28-0, 21 KOs) is also on the card. Ascending Japanese southpaw Reito Tsutsumi (5-0, 4 KOs) will encounter Raymundo Rojas Garcia (16-2, 11 KOs) in a 10-round junior lightweight bout, too.
