The 154-pound division is on the cusp of crowning an undisputed champion.
One of the final two fighters vying for that opportunity will likely be decided Saturday night.
That’s when Sebastian Fundora will defend his WBC 154-pound title against Ermal Hadribeaj. Fundora (24-1-1, 16 KOs), who is The Ring’s No. 3 junior middleweight contender for a vacant championship, will make a mandated defense against Albania’s Hadribeaj (23-0-1, 8 KOs).
Fundora, 28, enters his third title defense off a dominant sixth-round stoppage of former unified welterweight titleholder Keith Thurman on March 28 in Las Vegas. Hadribeaj, 32, ranked No. 9 by The Ring, became Fundora’s mandatory challenger when he upset previously unbeaten Bakary Samake by unanimous decision on May 23.
The other side of the bracket features WBA and WBO 154-pound champion Jaron “Boots” Ennis and IBF titleholder Josh Kelly. They’re expected to fight in early 2027, which would set the stage for the winner to face Fundora or Hadribeaj later in 2027 for undisputed status.
Fantasy
The picks are in from The Ring’s Mike Coppinger. Think you can beat him? Predict winners for prizes.
They Said It
Fundora: “I don’t take anybody lightly. We’re in nothing but championship fights now, so I have to prepare for everyone like they’re coming to rip my head off. That’s what they’re all trying to do.”
Hadribeaj: “Becoming Albania’s first world champion is going to be big. That’s what I’m looking forward to — securing the belt and making history. It’s big. It’s a dream that everybody has.”
The Odds
Fundora is a seismic favorite at -1400 odds, according to DraftKings. A win by KO/TKO/DQ boasts the best odds for “The Towering Inferno” at -300.
A Hadribeaj upset is listed at +700 odds. The Albanian southpaw winning by KO/TKO/DQ or decision is +1400.
Must-See On The Undercard
Brandon Figueroa will make his first WBA featherweight title defense against Tomoki Kameda in the co-main event. Figueroa (27-2-1, 20 KOs), ranked No. 4 among The Ring’s 126-pound contenders, has called for a unification bout against WBO titleholder Rafael Espinoza, rated No. 1 by The Ring, should he get past Kameda (42-5, 23 KOs).
Former WBA super middleweight champion Armando Resendiz returns to face Australia’s Koen Mazoudier in a 10-round bout. Resendiz (16-3, 11 KOs), The Ring’s No. 7 super middleweight contender, replaced Jermall Charlo, who withdrew due to injury last week.
