Jaron "Boots" Ennis put on an impressive display Saturday night, earning himself a spot on The Ring's pound-for-pound top 10 list.
Ennis dropped and stopped Xander Zayas in a seven-round thriller to win the WBA and WBO junior middleweight titles at Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
The Philadelphian had to overcome adversity for the first time in his career after getting rocked in the third round, but ultimately pulled through to secure the best win of his 37-fight career.
Ennis, who turned 29 the day before his victory, is now a two-weight unified champion, with big fights against Vergil Ortiz, Sebastian Fundora and Josh Kelly on the horizon.
On the undercard, rising contenders Emiliano Vargas and Ben Whittaker impressed, each winning their respective fights by fourth and second-round TKO.
Earlier in the week, Liam Paro became a two-weight world champion by narrowly outpointing Lewis Crocker to win the IBF 147-pound strap in Brisbane, Australia.
On Sunday, in the main event of Zuffa Boxing 08, Jose Valenzuela avenged his September 2022 third-round knockout defeat to Edwin De Los Santos by stopping the Dominican in a round less at The Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas.
Overall there's movement in five divisions, as well as a major change to the pound-for-pound list.
*Bold/italics denotes movement in the division.
