Former unified 122-pound champion Stephen Fulton seeks to straighten an uneven stretch when he returns July 25 to take on Liam Wilson at Afterpay Arena in Sydney, Australia.
Their junior lightweight fight was announced Thursday. The opponent of known event participant Jermall Charlo, Koen Mazoudier, was also named.
The pair of pittings will take place on the undercard of the Errol Spence Jr.-Tim Tszyu fight that is set to headline a PBC on Prime Video pay-per-view event in the United States.
Fulton (23-2, 8 KOs) last fought during a December debacle against O'Shaquie Foster and dropped a wide points decision. The contest was contracted to take place at 130 pounds, which would’ve been Fulton’s division debut, but the Philadelphia native badly blew weight by tipping the scales at 132 pounds before offering a listless performance against the WBC super featherweight champ in a 12-round fight for the WBC interim lightweight title.
Fulton is 2-2 over his last four fights.
The 31-year-old former champion was knocked out by Naoya Inoue in July 2023 and lost his WBC and WBO 122-pound titles. Fulton returned in September 2024 and made his 126-pound debut against Carlos Castro, only to survive a knockdown and sneak by with a split-decision win.
Fulton had a solid showing the next time out, however, and beat Brandon Figueroa by unanimous decision in a 12-round rematch for the WBC featherweight title in February 2025 before moving on to Foster.
Wilson (18-3, 10 KOs) is on a five-fight winning streak since getting stopped by Oscar Valdez in March 2024.
The 30-year-old Queensland native hasn’t scored credible wins outside of names in the Australian boxing circuit. His other losses came against Emanuel Navarrete in a February 2023 firefight and against Joe Noynay in July 2021.
Houston’s Charlo (34-0, 23 KOs), meanwhile, is taking what appears to be another step down in competition after defeating Thomas LaManna by sixth-round technical knockout in May 2025, following an 18-month layoff.
Mazoudier (15-4-1, 6 KOs) is a 154-pounder tasked with stepping up to 168 pounds nearly two years after getting stopped by Australian prospect Nikita Tszyu, Tim’s younger brother.
