It's time to take the handbrake off.
Matchroom chief Eddie Hearn acknowledged as much, both in the post-fight press conference and privately with The Ring after a successful evening for several London-based prospects during step-up assignments.
While Southampton super middleweight talent Taylor Bevan (8-0, 8 KOs) scored another impressive stoppage win stashed deep on the undercard, English lightweight beltholder Visioli (11-0, 6 KOs) was a commanding victor against Levi Giles and there's already an eagerness to see the next stage in his development.
Visioli, who turns 23 next month, acknowledged he could have pushed for a stoppage during a fight he bossed from the first bell to the last. Instead, he opted to pace himself and ease during a one-sided decision victory.
While drawn into some needless exchanges in close quarters against Joe Howarth in December, Visioli largely kept matters at distance and delivered a steady diet of body shots Giles (17-3-1, 4 KOs) had no answers for. Having floored the visitor from Grimsby midway through their 10-rounder, there was an expectation he'd put his foot down and accelerate towards a finish. Instead, the skilled southpaw went the distance for a fourth consecutive outing.
Visioli was aware of those feelings when reflecting on his performance post-fight, though felt comfortable enough showboating and throwing fast combinations in bunches against a vastly experienced yet defensively open foe who didn't punch hard enough, nor challenge him into feeling like there was any need to push for a finish.
"I'm happy to get the rounds in I guess, maybe should've stepped on the gas but it's a little disappointing because he just stood there and took punches but that's the level ... we'll speak to the team and move on, I'm down for anyone. The plan is to go down the British route, I don't need to call anyone out - that's not me - I'm happy to take on anyone, whoever has the British at the time."
Visioli visibly lights up if you discuss a fantasy fight with Curmel Moton or ask him to take you behind-the-scenes with the various stateside spars he's experienced. If not that, how difficult is it to keep the 11-fight pro motivated?
"It will start to become more difficult and that's when you'll see the best of him," Hearn told The Ring.
"We've just got to be careful that people don't find it boring because if he's feeling bored in there, then people will when watching a one-sided contest. We've got to step him up two or three levels. I think he should fight for the British and Commonwealth titles now, he's got all the ability, so let's make the Louie O'Doherty fight."
O'Doherty (11-0, 3 KOs) won the title left vacant by Sam Noakes with a 10th-round stoppage of Regan Glackin in October, though is likely unavailable for the next few months at the earliest.
The Queensberry-backed champion has been ordered for a title defense against Ahmed Hatim (12-0, 3 KOs) by the end of July, per the BBBofC's latest circular update.
Having enjoyed an active slate of competition over the past 12 months, The Ring's John Evans previously mentioned Liam Dillon (16-5-1, 3 KOs) and Gavin Gwynne (18-4-2, 5 KOs) as viable options for Visioli to test himself against domestically over the next 12 months as he picks up steam and more experience against better opposition.
