Alycia Baumgardner wants Amanda Serrano or Katie Taylor in 2026

Big fights, big names, and big paydays.
That’s what Alycia Baumgardner is chasing. Her April 17 matchup against Bo Mi Re Shin doesn’t qualify as such, but it’s an opportunity to showcase her skills on ESPN at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
As long as everything goes according to plan, The Ring and unified junior lightweight champ, will place her attention on two of the biggest names in the sport.
“Who I want is Amanda Serrano, who I want is Katie Taylor,” Baumgardner said on The Last Stand. “I been calling these girls out, I been saying I want these fights because these are big fights. These are main event fights. I've been very vocal about that.”
While Baumgardner continues to express who she wants, Caroline Dubois will do the same. The reigning WBC lightweight champ can’t stand Baumgardner and wants that fight more than anything. For now, Dubois will take out her frustrations on Terri Harper April 5 in London.
Interestingly, Baumgardner (17-1, 7 KOs) defeated Harper via fourth-round stoppage in 2021, and Dubois defeated Re Shin by majority decision last March.
A fight between Baumgardner and Dubois makes sense, but it will only happen on Baumgardner’s timeline.
“When I do decide to move to 135, then that fight for Dubois is potentially there but that’s way down the line,” Baumgardner continued. “Dubois, she's gotta keep doing what she's doing. Go put some skin in the game but the main thing is Amanda or Katie.”
Ultimately, getting a fight against Serrano or Taylor has a few roadblocks.
Serrano (47-4-1, 31 KOs) currently campaigns one weight class below in the featherweight division. She was, however, IBF champion at 130 pounds in 2011. Taylor, on the other hand, says that she’ll have just one last fight before retiring. Taylor, the undisputed junior welterweight champion, wants her last fight to take place at Croke Park, an 80,000-seater stadium in Dublin, Ireland.
While a fight with Taylor (25-1, 6 KOs) is unrealistic, Baumgardner remains optimistic that she can get Serrano, The Ring and unified featherweight champion, to get in the squared circle and fight her.
“I would say it happens this year,” Baumgardner continued when discussing how plausible it is to fight Serrano. “I let her know that I would love to fight. We are two great and skillful fighters. She agrees, so everything comes down to negotiations in boxing. I will make sure that fight happens.”
