Alvarez (63-3-2, 39 KOs) looks to correct that when he faces WBC champion Christian Mbilli (29-0-1, 24 KOs) on September 12 to headline a “Mexico vs. The World” show in Saudi Arabia.

If all goes well, Alvarez plans to return as soon as December or February in what should certainly be another title unification bout for the former two-time undisputed 168-pound king.

Alvarez has already ruled out a rematch against former rival-turned-teammate and WBA champion Jaime Munguia.

That leaves WBO titleholder Hamzah Sheeraz (23-0-1, 19 KOs), who picked up the vacant title Saturday by taking out Alem Begic in two rounds, and IBF champion Osleys Iglesias (15-0. 14 KOs), who stopped Pavel Silyagin in April to win the vacant title, as Alvarez’s likeliest next two options should he get past Mbilli.

When Alvarez was asked if he’s open to moving the world tour to England for a slugfest against Sheeraz, a Pakistani-Indian born and bred in Berkshire, the Mexican superstar was open to the idea of the overseas encounter.

“Yeah, we'll see after. Why not?” Alvarez told reporters. “I have my fight on September 12, and he just had his fight, we'll see. But why not?”

Alvarez also suggested that Iglesias and Sheeraz should first face each other in order to earn the opportunity to fight him.

“I think they need to fight each other, and then I fight the winner,” Alvarez said on the . “That’s the most smart thing they can do. We all need to earn what we deserve, and they need to earn it. I’m not saying they don’t deserve it, they deserve it. That’s why they are champions or number ones or whatever, but they need to fight each other, and then after my fight, we’ll see.”

Sheeraz remained respectful after rocking and stopping Begic without resistance in Egypt, but refused to pound the table calling for a Canelo clash.

“To share the ring with him would be an honor, and to get the opportunity, I'll definitely be getting the win, for sure,” Sheeraz said as Alvarez sat ringside at the Pyramids of Giza.

"I'll fight anyone. There was boxing royalty at ringside tonight, and I'm just trying to follow in their footsteps. I'm just beating whoever is put in front of me. I'm going to collect all the belts."

Following the matchup against Mbilli, outside of Iglesias and Sheeraz, the most viable opponents left in the field for Alvarez at 168 pounds are Jermall Charlo, Lester Martinez and Diego Pacheco.

Alvarez, who turns 36 in July, last fought in September and suffered a unanimous decision defeat against Terence Crawford in Las Vegas.
