Following last night's press conference between Chris Eubank Jr and Conor Benn, in which the former slapped the latter on the face with an egg, the British Boxing Board of Control (BBBofC) has confirmed punishments could follow.

Eubank Jr (34-3, 25 KOs) and Benn (23-0, 14 KOs) are due to clash at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London on April 26, and the build-up has been typically fiery.

At their first press conference on Tuesday evening in Manchester, the pair had to be separated by security after Eubank Jr smashed an egg into the side of Benn's face following a face-off on stage.

General secretary of the Boxing Board Robert Smith says Eubank Jr could be punished ahead of his fight with Benn in two months.

Smith told The Ring: "We're obviously disappointed he did such a silly thing. He struck Conor which was inappropriate, it was irresponsible. We'll deal with that at a hearing when we call for a hearing. We'll get one in as soon as we can possibly get it on.

"I can't speculate [on punishment]. There's lots of things they can do, they can withdraw licenses, they can fine, they can suspend, they can put conditions on licences.

Concerns have been put forward about the pair meeting once again at a second presser tomorrow in the capital at Spurs' stadium, but Smith is happy for it to move forward.

He added: "I've spoken to a few people regarding the press conference tomorrow, and I'm satisfied the press conference can go ahead."

Eubank Jr and Benn were supposed to meet today for a roundtable face-off, set to be broadcast by DAZN at a later date, but the meeting was called off after Tuesday's antics.
