The Ring's lightweight champion Caroline Dubois is ready to book a unification with “dangerous” Elif Nur Turhan if she cannot secure a clash with Alycia Baumgardner.
Dubois, who also holds the WBC title, added the WBO belt to her collection when she beat Terri Harper via unanimous decision at Kensington Olympia on Easter Sunday to take another step towards becoming undisputed.
However the southpaw has made no secret of her desire to welcome The Ring’s junior lightweight champion up to 135 pounds after she outworked Bo Mi Re Shin to retain her titles with a 10-round points decision Friday night in New York. Dubois would be willing for a trip to America, defending her belts against the 31-year-old "Bomb."
Despite that, Dubois expects Baumgardner to take a different route and has identified a contingency plan: big-punching IBF champion Elif Nur Turhan.
Dubois said: "I don't want to be involved in any other fight that isn't a unification or a big fight. Right now I think the most realistic would be Turhan next. She's the one that's available and free, also the most exciting one."
The 30-year-old from Turkey produced one of the most stunning performances of 2025 when dethroning former champion Beatriz Ferreira in Monte Carlo. The Brazilian had been odds-on to retain her title but was blitzed by the challenger inside five rounds.
Dubois added: "It's a dangerous but a very exciting fight. That's all I want to give to the fans, exciting fights, being involved in the best and biggest fights that I can possibly make. Hopefully Turhan and myself can get it on and it's easy and simple. It's just about where, when and on what card."
For her victory over Harper, the 25-year-old Londoner was supported from ringside by her close friend Claressa Shields.
The self-styled "GWOAT" had headed to London following her trip to Cardiff, where she watched her potential next opponent Lauren Price successfully defend her Ring, IBF, WBC and WBA welterweight titles against Stephanie Pineiro Aquino. Now Dubois has suggested that her unification with Nur Turhan could land on their undercard should the two sides agree a deal for a 2026 fight.
She said: "If Claressa Shields is fighting Lauren Price next, I would love to fight on her undercard. I'm sure that's something that can happen."
The Ring understands that talks regarding a clash between Shields and Price are progressing well. It is likely that both will box once more before meeting in a cross-promotion between Salita and Boxxer before the end of 2026.
