Fury’s promoter, Frank Warren, provided a positive update on Tuesday as to where dealings stand for the all-British battle between former heavyweight champions.

“I genuinely think it will happen. His Excellency, Turki Alalshikh, will announce that fairly soon,” Warren told Sky Sports. “I know there’s been some issues with contracts with Matchroom and AJ. I believe they will iron all those out. In the meantime, Tyson [Fury] has flown off to the States. He’s in Miami and he’s preparing for the fight."

Fury made Thailand his home base for his last two camps, but he’s now returning to training in America for the first time in five years after his trilogy fight against Deontay Wilder. Fury fought five times consecutively in the United States from 2018 to 2021; Joshua has competed just twice stateside.

In June, Fury put rumors to rest that he was banned from traveling to the United States after attending the UFC event at the White House.

In recent weeks, the chief hurdle for Fury-Joshua officially crossing the finish line has been whether it will take place in the U.S. or UK. A November 20 date on Netflix at New York’s Madison Square Garden has been targeted for the tilt.

“I think they both want the fight at Wembley, but it’s out of their hands now,” Warren said. “That’s not quite right, actually. They could refuse to fight. We don’t get the fight we want to see.

“I think because of the amount of money involved, I hope I’m wrong, but I think it will go on in America. Would I like to see it at Wembley? Would all the fans like to see it at Wembley? Of course they would. But they are in the hands of another broadcaster who wants the fight in America.”

Fury (36-2-1, 25 KOs) and Joshua (30-4, 26 KOs) both scored tune-up wins within a day of each other last month, albeit in completely different fashions.

Fury comfortably stopped Mariusz Wach in seven rounds July 25 in Thailand, away from the TV cameras. Joshua got dropped twice by Kristian Prenga in the opening round and bounced back to score a stoppage in the second.
