Robert Meriwether is still in the early stages of his boxing career, therefore all he wants is activity.
“About four [fights], at least,” Meriwether said on Inside The Ring on DAZN Monday when he was asked about his upcoming fight plans. "I wanna be more active.”
The 20-year-old started strong grabbing a lopsided win over then-undefeated Cesar Correa last weekend on Zuffa Boxing 001 in Las Vegas.
Beating Correa, however, won’t give him the recognition he believes he deserves. Meriwether (10-0, 4 KOs) hasn’t had the career of a young hotshot prospect.
He feels, or at least he hopes, things are about to change under the Zuffa banner, which is being spearheaded by UFC president Dana White and Turki Alalshikh, chairman of Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority and owner of The Ring.
The goal for Meriwether, who campaigns at junior lightweight, is to make a name for himself and win multiple world titles. Today, he wants to avoid what happened to him in 2023, when he made just one appearance all year.
To get to the lofty goals he’s set for himself, he needs activity an attention.
“I’m gonna be around for a minute,” Meriwether said. “It’s only up from here. You guys are gonna see a lot of me. I know the skills that I have. Sky’s the limit.”
