Two of The Ring's top five pound-for-pound female stars will headline Birmingham's bp pulse LIVE on August 29, MVPW announced on Wednesday.
Having faced off immediately following Chantelle Cameron's decision win over Michaela Kotaskova in April, the pair will top the bill in west Midlands later this summer as Mayer (22-2, 5 KOs) seeks to reclaim a 154-pound title she relinquished months earlier.
After ironing out a dispute over contracted weight and whether it would be contested over two or three-minute rounds, Mayer is looking forward to delivering another fight between pound-for-pound talents.
The 35-year-old was previously clear on preferring to face Ring and unified champion Lauren Price (10-0, 2 KOs) for undisputed status at welterweight, but is unprepared to wait any longer for the Welshwoman.
"Chantelle has always been a name I've hoped to add to my resume and a fight I feel the sport of boxing deserves. With our come forward, aggressive styles, I have no doubt it will be one of the most exciting fights of our generation. Giving the fans the fights they wanna see is what I do best," she said in a press release.
The three-weight world champion, rated No. 3 on The Ring's pound-for-pound list, told ESPN in April she intends to become undisputed at 154 pounds, where friend and compatriot Oshae Jones (9-0, 3 KOs) holds the IBF strap.
Jones makes her second title defense in a rematch against Elia Carranza (11-2, 3 KOs) this weekend.
Former undisputed junior welterweight champion Cameron (22-1, 8 KOs) claimed gold in her second weight class, growing frustrated waiting for clarity on Katie Taylor as she unsuccessfully pressed and probed for a trilogy bout.
Cameron remains steadfast in wanting to compete under equal rules as men. With limited leverage, she conceded to Mayer's terms but is still delighted to have another marquee matchup almost three years after her career-first defeat by Taylor.
Elsewhere, there's more titles on the line in the chief support. Ring and unified lightweight beltholder Caroline Dubois, who unified titles with a points win over Terri Harper in the April 5 headliner, has been busy scouting opposition but first faces distinguished amateur standout Amelia Moore (4-0, 1 KO) before looking to unify again.
The 25-year-old is happy MVP are keeping her active with two fights in just under five months and a third since signing with the promotion in December.
"I'm excited to be fighting in the UK at home again, looking forward to representing the UK on this card, defending my unified titles. The goal is to fight for more belts at the end of the year so I need to focus and take care of business with a big win in Birmingham," she said in the same release.
Moore is relatively unheralded in the paid ranks, though cut her teeth with an extensive career that began in 2011 and isn't fazed by the sizeable step-up in quality she'll meet when traveling across the Atlantic.
Emphasizing she's paid her dues in the discipline, the 36-year-old was quoted as saying:
"I've spent most of my life pursuing this sport. Three Olympic cycles, countless international tournaments, years of learning, growing, preparing for moments like this. I respect Caroline and the path she's taken to become world champion. When the best are willing to face the best, everybody wins and August 29th is bigger than a title fight, it's another step forward for women's boxing."
