Zuffa Boxing's first show outside the United States lands in the unlikely town of Bournemouth, England on Saturday night.
The man responsible for that location is former WBO cruiserweight king Chris Billam-Smith, the fighting pride of Bournemouth and only their second ever world champion after Freddie Mills achieved the feat a few years after World War Two.
Alongside Conor Benn, the 35-year-old "CBS" has been one of Zuffa's most significant UK signings as they bid to gain a foothold in a marketplace already dominated by the likes of Queensberry and Matchroom.
It made perfect sense for them to enroll one of the country's biggest local ticket sellers to help spearhead their first moves away from America while, for "CBS", he gets to box back in Bournemouth for the first time since December 2023.
But while it may look like something of a homecoming party for Billam-Smith (21-2, 13 KOs), returning to the venue where he has previously defended the European, Commonwealth and world cruiserweight titles, there is a visitor from Canada desperate to spoil everything.
Underdog Ryan Rozicki (21-1-1, 20 KOs) will arrive on England's south coast boasting one of the division's highest knockout ratios. He knows that if he can ruin the party and stop Billam-Smith, a shot at Ring Magazine champion Jai Opetaia will almost certainly be next.

They said it
Chris Billam-Smith: "This is a man who earned his respect through violence and that shows in the way he fights. He likes people who have got basically no footwork but throw bombs. He just seems very intense and very keen to be violent. That’s all part of the job but not the be-all and end-all. To me, that is winning and I will be going out there to do what I need to win. And so far in my career, I’ve been unbeatable in Bournemouth."
Ryan Rozicki: "Despite the fact that we're gonna fight each other, I'm gonna try to hurt him, he's gonna try and hurt me, I've always actually been a fan of Chris. I'm a fan of his style. Inside the ring, he's a killer, a fighter, a warrior. Then outside the ring he's a gentleman, like his nickname. He's everything you would want a champion to be, really."
What are the odds?
Home town hero and former world champion Billam-Smith has been priced as the clear favorite at 1/3 (-300) while once-beaten Rozicki is the 3/1 (+300) underdog. The draw is a relatively modest 18/1 (+1800) and, given Rozicki drew with Yamil Alberto Peralta 18 months ago, that might be attractive to some punters.
Must-see on the undercard
"CBS" and Rozicki are not the only cruiserweights on the bill as former British champion Cheavon Clarke faces the one-time world title challenger Jack Massey over 10 rounds in a real domestic crossroads clash.
Elsewhere, a heavyweight 10-rounder straight out of leftfield has been added to the card as Kazakh puncher Ivan Dychko, the 2012 Olympian, will meet Brighton's popular Harvey Dykes.
Location
Bournemouth International Centre, Bournemouth
