Keyshawn Davis delivered an impressive performance in his debut at 140 pounds when he became the first man to stop Jamaine Ortiz.
Now, he has his sights on accomplishing the same feat against a familiar foe.
Davis will rematch Nahir Albright on May 16 at Scope Arena in his hometown of Norfolk, Virginia, on Top Rank’s inaugural card on DAZN. On the latest episode of “Inside The Ring,” which premiered on Monday on DAZN, Davis promised he’d also be the first fighter to stop Albright.
“If you’re not on my level, you’re getting stopped,” Davis said. “I’m not trying to just go in there and win. I’m going to stop you. I’m healthy this time. I’m not smoking cannabis the week of the fight. I’m not doing that in camp. I’m fully focused. You’re going to get a fully healthy Keyshawn, and y’all are going to see. I’m going to go in there and stop him. I’m going to dominate him like nobody else.”
Davis (14-0, 10 KOs, 1 NC) and Albright (17-2-1, 7 KOs, 1 NC) first fought in October 2023, with the former winning a competitive majority decision. John Basile scored the fight 95-95, but David Sutherland had it 97-93 and Robert Hoyle scored it 96-94 for Davis.
The result was changed to a no-contest after Davis, The Ring’s third-ranked junior welterweight, tested positive for marijuana, which is a banned substance in Texas. Davis noted the negative effect marijuana had on his performance and said he has since stopped using it.
“I was smoking during fight week,” Davis said. “I wasn't focused at all. I was underestimating him, and I was halfway in shape.”
Davis, 27, eventually won the WBO lightweight title in 2025 thanks to a fourth-round stoppage of previously unbeaten Ukrainian Denys Berinchyk. Davis’ reign was short-lived, as he was stripped of the title after missing weight by over four pounds for his first scheduled title defense against Edwin De Los Santos on June 7, which was consequently canceled.
In Albright’s lone fight since he defeated Davis’ brother, he fought to a unanimous draw against Frank Martin in a 10-round, 142-pound bout on February 21 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The Philadelphia native rocked Martin badly with a left hook early in the final round and was on the cusp of dropping him.
While Albright’s performance against Martin helped him earn the rematch, how he performed also assured Davis how their second fight will end.
“I would stop Frank Martin,” Davis said. “Them having a draw, like come on, bro, it’s levels to this game. When I fight Nahir, I’m going to stop him.”
